How we teach

Our materials teach about the world’s traditions. They don’t teach any one of them as true. Students meet real people in real places, read what they actually wrote, and draw their own conclusions.

Real lives

Every lesson starts with a person: a poet in Konya, an anchoress in Norwich, a monk in a Japanese temple. Stories are how students remember.

Primary sources

Students read the words people wrote, carefully translated and cited, alongside the historical record.

Neutral by design

Written to the standard a public school needs: accurate, balanced, and respectful of every family in the room.

Ready to teach

Answer keys, vocabulary, timing, and teacher notes come in the box. Nothing to build the night before.

From the archive

Everyone draws wisdom as a circle.

In 1626 an English physician named Robert Fludd engraved Hochma, the Hebrew word for wisdom, as a wheel of light ringed in cloud. A Zen master drew it as a single brushstroke. A Tibetan painter drew it as a mandala. Our students meet all of them.
